Supervision

Supervision is an essential part of counselling and psychotherapy practice. It supports high professional standards and should be a rewarding, supportive and enriching experience. As humans working with human problems, it is vital that we address all the dimensions of our practice and to continue to question, challenge and explore our own philosophies and experience in relation with our clients.

My approach is personal and relational, offering a trusting and open dialogue in which all aspects of therapeutic work can be explored. I offer supervisees the support to work flexibly, to be safely challenged, and crucially to find their own voice in order to best serve their clients in a safe, professional and effective way. At the core of my belief is the importance of working openly and respectfully with difference, and to acknowledge our shared humanity in what is a fundamentally human endeavour. I am committed to facilitating, celebrating, inspiring, and enabling each individual supervisee in their practice.

I have supervised psychotherapists and counsellors from trainee to experienced practitioners in voluntary, NHS, University training, and private practice settings. I have also run supervision and professional development groups in all settings and am happy to be contacted regarding both individual and running group supervision.

What does it cost?

Therapy supervision is charged by the hour and there is no restriction on how many or how few sessions you would like.

My Approach

My Approach

Informed by a variety of psychotherapeutic means rooted in training, research and experience, I offer a respectful and confidential space to explore all aspects of life from personal development to difficult health conditions or situations, unique to each individual. Together we can increase understanding, allow emotional healing and assist recovery - we can slow things down and take stock, allowing for new choices and opportunities to emerge.

My approach to therapy is positive and practical: I believe that psychotherapy enables people to make sense of their problems in the hope that they can make decisions about what they want to do to bring about change in their lives. It provides a means of support and a space where you can feel valued and heard. This is not a time when you are going to be told what to do or what to believe. Therapy is about sharing, exploring and challenging. My job is to help you put problems into context, to challenge your way of thinking, to empathise with the way you feel.

Depending on what is right for each client at any given moment, therapy might involve talking something through, using creative means, working with meditation, Mindfulness or Focusing, or simply offering a safe space to be heard. At the core of my work is the connection between myself and the clients, and an honest and trustworthy commitment to being with you in our sessions.
